About Us

Tockwith Cycles began as a small hobby back in 2023, founded by owner Jay with the support of his family. What started with repairing and selling bikes from a shed in the back garden — while still working full-time — has now grown into a fully functioning bike shop and workshop, based out of a converted shipping container in Hessay.​

Jay has always been a keen cyclist and began his working life in local bike shops, where he gained hands-on experience and built his knowledge of bikes from the ground up. Now, as a parent, he’s returned to the cycling industry with a renewed focus — passionate about helping children ride safe, easy, lightweight bikes that make cycling a joy from the very first pedal.

​With a background in the car industry, Jay spent years building strong customer relationships through exceptional service — often turning customers into friends. He’s brought that same dedication into Tockwith Cycles, making it his mission to provide a friendly, honest, and straightforward way for families to find high-quality, safe, secondhand children’s bikes.

We specialise in lightweight bikes from trusted brands like Islabikes, Frog, Squish, and Wild, carefully chosen to make cycling fun, easy, and accessible for kids of all ages.

Our business continues to grow thanks to the fantastic support of our customers, and Jay is always looking for ways to move forward. Most recently, he completed his Bikeability training with plans to offer cycling tuition through The Little Riders Club — helping even more children build confidence on two wheels.
